Formula & methodology
YouTube's recommended thumbnail size is 1280 × 720 pixels (a 16:9 ratio), the same aspect ratio the video player itself uses, so nothing gets cropped oddly on any device. Minimum accepted size is 640 × 360, but 1280 × 720 is what YouTube itself recommends for a sharp result on every screen, from a phone's video feed to a 4K TV's "Up next" panel.
This tool exports at the exact pixel resolution you choose — a 1280×720 preset genuinely renders a 1,280 by 720 pixel PNG or JPG, not a screenshot of a smaller on-screen preview, so text and edges stay sharp even at full size.
Quick reference
| Platform | Size (px) | Ratio |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube Thumbnail | 1280 × 720 | 16:9 |
| YouTube Shorts | 1080 × 1920 | 9:16 |
| Instagram Post | 1080 × 1080 | 1:1 |
| Instagram Portrait | 1080 × 1350 | 4:5 |
| 1200 × 630 | 1.91:1 |
Features
Type mixed Hindi/English titles like "मायका में बनाया बिना Oven के Pizza" in a single text layer — Devanagari renders as real, correctly-shaped text, not boxes, using your device's own Hindi-capable fonts.
YouTube Viral, Breaking News, Hindi News, Food, Finance, Business, Education, Tech, Vlog and Motivation — each a starting point you can fully customize.
Upload your images and a title, click Auto Layout, and get a professionally arranged design — image placement, a dark gradient overlay for readable text, and high-contrast title styling, all done for you.
Every image and text box is an independent, movable, resizable, rotatable layer with its own visibility/lock/duplicate controls and full undo history (Ctrl+Z).
Your download is exactly your design — no ToolQiva logo or watermark added.
Every image you add is read locally with the browser's File API and never leaves your device — thumbnail creation happens entirely on your screen.
Supported formats and limitations
Upload JPG, JPEG, PNG or WebP images (up to 25MB each — larger images are automatically resized for smooth editing). Exports as PNG or JPG at your chosen resolution.
Use cases include personal workflows, content preparation, and quick checks. Review output before relying on it for legal, financial, accessibility, or production decisions.
Frequently asked questions
Can I create a YouTube thumbnail for free?
Yes — every feature (templates, text tools, auto layout, and PNG/JPG download) is free, with no account, sign-up or watermark.
What size should a YouTube thumbnail be?
YouTube recommends 1280 × 720 pixels (16:9 ratio) for the sharpest result across devices. That's the default preset here, and it's a genuine full-resolution export, not an upscaled screenshot.
Can I add Hindi text?
Yes — Hindi, English, and mixed Hindi+English (Hinglish) titles all work in the same text layer, using Devanagari-capable fonts already built into modern phones and computers.
Can I upload multiple images?
Yes — upload several images and use Auto Layout or the layer panel to arrange them (side-by-side, collage, big-image-plus-small-image, and more).
Can I download the thumbnail without a watermark?
Yes — downloads never include a ToolQiva logo or watermark unless you add one yourself as a design element.
Are my uploaded images stored?
No. Images are read and rendered entirely in your browser using the File API and are never uploaded to ToolQiva's servers. A small text-only draft (titles, colors, layout — never image pixels) can be auto-saved to your own browser's local storage so a refresh doesn't lose your work; you can clear it anytime.
Can I create thumbnails on mobile?
Yes — the editor is fully responsive: the canvas fits your screen and the tool panels adapt for touch on phones and tablets.
Does the thumbnail generator work without installing software?
Yes — it runs entirely in your web browser. No app, plugin or account is required.
