Gold Rate Calculator

🔒 Runs in your browser — 100% private

Work out the final price of a gold jewellery piece from its weight, purity, today's gold rate, making charges and the standard 3% GST and hallmarking charge — enter the numbers you have and see exactly how the final bill is built up.

Hallmarking fees are set by BIS and change periodically — the default is a placeholder, confirm the current fee with your jeweller.

Your data is processed locally in your browser and is never uploaded to our server.

How to use gold rate calculator

  1. Enter weight, purity and today's rate

Use the 24K (999) rate published today — the tool applies the purity conversion for 22K/18K automatically.

  2. Add making charges and hallmarking

Making charges are usually a % of gold value or a flat ₹/gram — use whichever your jeweller quotes.

  3. Calculate

See the full price breakdown: gold value, making charges, 3% GST and hallmarking, added up to the final price.

Formula & methodology

Effective rate = 24K rate × purity factor (22K = 22/24 = 0.9167, 18K = 18/24 = 0.75). Gold value = weight × effective rate. Making charges = gold value × % (or weight × ₹/gram). Final price = (gold value + making charges) × 1.03 (3% GST) + hallmarking charge.

Example: 10g of 22K gold at a ₹7,500/gram 24K rate, 12% making charges, ₹45 hallmarking — effective rate ₹6,875/gram, gold value ₹68,750, making ₹8,250, GST on ₹77,000 is ₹2,310, hallmarking ₹45 → final price ≈ ₹79,355.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find today's 24K gold rate?

Most jewellers, banks and financial news sites (e.g. MCX, India Bullion and Jewellers Association) publish a daily 24K/999 gold rate — enter that figure here.

Why is 22K gold cheaper than 24K for the same weight?

22K gold is only 91.6% pure gold by weight (the rest is alloy metal for strength) — so its effective gold content, and therefore its price, is proportionally lower than 24K.

Is GST really charged on making charges too?

Yes — under current Indian GST rules, the 3% GST applies to the combined value of gold plus making charges, not gold value alone.

Does this account for old gold exchange or discounts?

No — this calculates a fresh purchase price only. Old-gold exchange value, jeweller-specific discounts and wastage charges (if applied separately from making charges) aren't modelled here.
