Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is read and re-encoded in your browser, so it never touches a server.
Why is WebP smaller than JPEG?
WebP uses more modern compression, often producing smaller files at similar quality. It's supported by all current browsers.
Will compressing a PNG shrink it much?
PNG is lossless, so savings are limited. For photos, converting to JPEG or WebP usually reduces size far more — Auto-compress switches you to JPEG automatically if you try to target a PNG, since quality has no effect on PNG size.
How does Auto-compress to target work?
It repeatedly re-encodes your image at different quality levels (a binary search, typically under 10 tries) until the result lands at or just under your target KB, then stops — landing within a couple of KB of your target in most cases.
What photo and signature size do SSC, IBPS and UPSC forms need?
It varies by exam and is printed in each notification, but typical ranges are: SSC photo 20–50KB and signature 10–20KB; IBPS photo 20–50KB (200×230px) and signature 10–20KB (140×60px); UPSC photo up to 300KB and signature 20–300KB (minimum 350×350px). Enter the limit as your target and click Auto-compress, or use the 20/50/100KB presets.
What size should a PAN card or passport photo be?
Most Indian PAN and passport portals expect a photo in the tens-of-KB range (often under 50KB), plus specific pixel dimensions — check the exact figure on the form you're submitting, since it differs by portal.
